For 2 years now Hitched has been apart of a group of wedding vendors and local Kansas City artists called the Wedding Hive. This year the Wedding Hive had their yearly interactive wedding event and fashion show in February with the theme of Brothers Grimm Fairytales. The great thing that Jessica and I love about this certain group of people is that everyone is soo creative and has a passion to work outside the box!
As we were all getting ready for the show Jeff Evrard, the wonderful fashion and wedding photographer of the night, quickly took some shots of all of us participating: Cakes by Joe, Genevieve Flynn, Scarlett Garnet Jewelry, Ornamental Petal, Blue Window Creative, Janay-A Handmade, emmy-ray, AJK Papery, Californos, Derek Jenkins Photography, the gown gallery, Hitched Weddings + Events, Meadowbelle Market, Melissa Lin Ellis Photography, Ruff House Art, Skyline Downtown Salon, Sparrow Photography, Two Tone Press, and Pech Limo.
When it came to designing our tablescape the one object we found first and fell in love with was the adorable mushroom plates. They were fun, quirky and colorful with snails crawling around and at the top of the plates was the words “after the rain” written in French. To keep the theme and colors going we used pops of reds, yellows and blues with flowers and mushrooms popping out of the moss. As our main focal point we used varying sizes of apothecary jars and filled them with flower terrariums.
For our bride and groom name cards we used the quirky monkey tail fern for a sign holder and filled it in moss and yellow poms and white ranunculas.
For the bridal bouquet we used pom poms, jonquils, tulips, pincushion proteas, ranunculas and delphinium and used touches of bupleurem and berzilia as well as monkey tail fern to tie it all together. We tied the bouquet with red satin ribbon and added vintage ric rac to add a playfulness feature to the wrap.
Maura Coleman-Murray of Creative Video was also generous enough to make a awesome video of the event that includes the 3 fashion shows that went on that evening.

Once again you will have to forgive my amateur photography skills. we really loved the way that we were able to incorporate the feathers into the table to give it the Roaring 20’s feel, but still maintain an aesthetic that would appeal to a wide variety of individuals. Amy handmade the menu card design as well as the drink menu cards. We found the peacock china at
