The bridal bouquet featured white peonies, juliet garden roses, flowering jasmine vine, white ranunculus, and astilbe.

The unique wedding invitations were created by Megan from Little Yellow Leaf who worked very closely with the bride.  Twine, vintage lace and a tree motif were some of the lovely elements of these invitations.

The bridesmaids carried hand tied bouquets that were more colorful versions of the bridal bouquet.  We added yellow ranunculus and other deeper pink tones for a more playful look.

The bride’s family had dozens of heirlooms that were incorporated throughout the celebration.  Family quilts were used as a backdrop to the custom photo booth provided by Lark Photography.

The groom created this stunning wood arch which fit in with the rustic surroundings perfectly.  We decorated the arch with floral pieces that coordinated with the lovely garden tones of the celebration.

We placed flowers and succulents in toolboxes provided by Sarah’s family that had been passed down through the family. 

Escort cards were created and designed by the bride to resemble vintage luggage tags.  We then hung the tags from twin with mini clothes pins. 

The beautiful cake with delicate sugar peonies was created by Rebekah Foster.

Jessica’s stunning bridal bouquet was created using white garden roses, white peonies, parrot tulips and white ranunculus.  The wrap on the bouquet was accented with a couple of rhinestone strands.  Jessica wanted touches of bling throughout the ceremony and reception to bring to mind her home town of Las Vegas!

We used succulents, green kermit mums, gardenia leaves and green hypericum berries to create green monocromatic corsages.

Unique white contemporary vases with green spider mum pomanders set off the ceremony. Custom built modern black pedestals provided by the talented Carolyn at Ultrapom.

Instead of tossing petals down the aisle, the flower girl spread whole green kermit mums in a tiny black basket.

Custom stationary created by Megan at Little Yellow Leaf helped to tie the entire wedding together.  We at Hitched found several contemporary frames that we painted black to display directions and the seating chart.

Place settings were created using a bright green apple with a leaf displaying the guest name.  We attached the leaf with a crystal pin.

We created a vast array of monocromatic centerpieces using succulents, trick dianthus, scabiosa pods, mini green hydrangea, green and white kale and green calla lilies.  Jessica really gave us the room to be creative and we think the results were amazing.

The absolutely amazing array of food and desserts were created by Olive Events.  Jessica and Adam had several food restrictions, but Olive Events was able to create an absolutely delicious and  delightful spread that included vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters alike!

The Terrace on Grand created the perfect setting for this urban affair.  Claire Ryser of Visionaire Studios captured everything from the grand moments to the elegant details flawlessly.  Thanks again, Jessica and Adam for allowing us to help create a wedding that shows off your sophisticated styles and your incredible relationship.

For the groom’s boutonniere we used ranunculus, hypericum berries and dusty miller.

The bridal bouquet included peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, hypericum berries and ruscus.

The bridesmaid’s bouquets included purple roses, hydrangea, ranunculus, carnations and dusty miller.

The 3 flower girls choose to carry moss pomanders instead of the traditional basket full of flower petals.

To help tie in Mackinsey and Adam’s color palette at the church we decorated the pews with purple, white, grey and green flowers and greenery.

On the front doors of both the church and the reception we made moss letters in Mackinsey and Adam’s initials.

Mackinsey and Adam choose 3 different types of centerpieces. A tall version included purple and white flowers with curly willow inside the clear glass curvy vase.

The other two shorter centerpieces included candles and bud vases on a wooden box for the one and a rustic lantern with coordinating flowers around it for the other. 

They wanted to keep the cake very clean and classic so we decided to use all white flowers including hydrangea and ranunculus and placed them perfectly around the top.

Kara and Dan chose Memorial Day weekend to celebrate their wedding with their closest family and friends in Salina, KS. They met in college and then later in Med School finally deciding that they were each other’s better half. Since both Dan and Kara choose to do their residency in Salina they thought it would be the perfect location for their wedding as well.

Kara’s bridal bouquet included hydrangea, dendrobium orchids, freesia, jasmine vine and her favorite flower…tuberoses.

The bridesmaid bouquets included purple hydrangea, purple stock, deep purple carnations, wax flower, and seeded eucalyptus.

The pews at the church were decorated with coordinating purple flowers and place in mint julep cups.

Up at the altar we placed a medium-sized floral piece on each candelabras to bring in their purple and turquoise color scheme.

The unity candle was surrounded by purple/turquoise dendrobium orchids for a simple but elegant pop of color.

The larger reception held for their many family and friends was held at the Sheraton there in town. For their centerpieces we decided to go with a few different options to give an overall look of variation and height.

The tall centerpieces included white hydrangea, purple stock, deep purple carnations, purple/turquoise dendrobium orchids, and curly willow both inside the vase as well as gracefully coming out of the top to give the piece extra height.

For the low round centerpieces we wrapped each vase with green ti leaves and then topped them off with white hydrangea, purple tulips, deep purple carnations, blue thistle and seeded eucalyptus.

As a third option we had a centerpiece made out if many different types of bud vases and various sizes of pillar candles to really set off the mood and overall feel of a wedding. This centerpiece really looked great when the lights were dimmed and the dancing was happening in full force!

Congrats again Kara and Dan…Jessica and I wish you a wonderful and happy life together! Also a BIG thanks to Jamie at in full bloom photography who did an amazing job capturing everything that day…..check her out! (Thanks again Jamie!)

As Vanessa and Brian walked back down the aisle to the sound of numerous bells ringing aloud from their family and friends, they hopped upon their vintage yellow tandem bike, with the help of a few from the bridal party and made it through the gardens and on down the street. Though the bicycle didn’t really need any decor due to the perfect condition and matching color we placed a small floral piece up front and a “Just Married” on the back.

The reception was filled with many personal touches including all the pieces we used as centerpieces. We used a mixture of carnival glass which was a family heirloom to serve a vases for the all of the tables. We also had a variety of doilies scattered around each piece to help tie in the “vintage feel”.

The centerpieces had a variety of flowers in them including roses, ranunculus, dusty miller, billy balls, bupleurum, football mums, succulents, queen ann’s lace and scabiosa pods.

Another personal decor item that Vanessa wanted to add to the wedding was wheat in remembrance of her father who was a wheat farmer. Besides adding it to her bouquet we also made a horse shoe shaped wheat wreath that hung in the front entrance of Simpson House for a symbol of good luck to the couple.  

Jill and Wes from Moxie Catering as always did an outstanding job with filling Vanessa and Brian’s wishes for eclectic comfort food. Besides being absolutely delicious it had as you can see a beautiful presentation to it as well. 

Rebekah from Rebekah Foster Cake Artist made a custom yellow and white cake that was inspired by the lace on Vanessa’s dress. To tie in Vanessa and Brian’s love for bicycles we made them a tandem bike cake topper out of wire and vintage buttons.

The rest of the night was full of laughter and dancing. A big thanks to Richard from All Ears Mobile DJ who did an awesome job keeping them groovin all night long! 

Congrats again Vanessa + Brian! We absolutely LOVED working with the both of you and wish you both only the best! (Ohh yeah….and just so you know every time I see anything bicycle related I think you guys!

For the bouquets I mixed together an array of flowers including roses, football mums, queen ann’s lace, ranunculus, billy balls, scabiosa pods, maiden hair fern and dusty miller. I also added a variety of succulents to all the bridal party flowers as well as wheat to Vanessa’s bouquet in memory of her father who was a wheat farmer. During the ceremony Vanessa wrapped her bouquet in a vintage blue and white handkerchief that she had received from a family member which had their wedding date and initials embroided in one of the corners.

Both flower girls carried yellow pomanders down the aisle with the ring bearer following closely behind with a vintage wooden box filled with a bed of flowers and ribbon that tied the rings safely inside.

Vanessa walked down the aisle to “I Will” by the Beatles which was preformed acoustically by Richard and Michelle from the band Hidden Pictures. 

To help accentuate the beautiful tree as a ceremony backdrop we created 3 bicycle chandeliers made up of bicycle wheels, ribbon, and flowers. We hung each chandelier at different heights and cut the ribbons various lengths to help them flow in the wind. 

Each seat at the ceremony had a small bell which read “Ring for a kiss…Tonight as we gather together, wish us a love to last forever. If you’d like us to share a wedded kiss, ring the bell for lifelong bliss!” As the ceremony concluded friends and family rang their bells as Vanessa and Brian walked back down the aisle as a married couple.

What You’ll Do
Event Assistants will assist with all day-of wedding tasks including: setting up floral and decor at ceremony and reception sites, assisting vendors with deliveries (ie. cake, linens, rentals), assisting with the ceremony, assisting vendors as needed throughout the day, ensuring timelines are being followed, trouble shooting problems that arise, and much more.  Event Assistants are always working alongside an experienced Planner who is there to direct & teach you! On days that weddings are not taking place, you might be asked to do more clerical work such as: updating social networking websites, writing blogs, researching as directed and more.

Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking junior & senior level students pursuing a degree in a related field (public relations, communications, hospitality & tourism, design, etc.) who are excited about learning the ins-and-outs of event planning and floral design, work well with a team, and exhibit a high level of responsibility. Weddings can be a stressful and an emotional time for a bride & groom and their families—the ideal candidate is friendly, enthusiastic, calm under pressure, and a great communicator!

What You’ll Get
This is an unpaid internship and can be applied towards college credit. You will walk away from this internship with hands-on experience in event planning and floral design which is unlike anything you can learn in a classroom. This internship puts you in the action, working with real clients and professional vendors.

When You’ll Work
Weddings are scheduled primarily on Saturdays, with some events on Fridays and Sundays. Interns will be scheduled to work 6-10 events throughout the wedding season (Late April-October) and we are happy to take schedules into consideration. Interns will also have the opportunity to work from home during the week (flexible hours and must have PC/Internet access) to gain more experience in the planning that takes place prior to the wedding date!
